About Avon Valley Runners
Avon Valley Runners serves Trowbridge and the wider West Wiltshire area of England. Founded in 1986, it is based at Trowbridge Rugby Football Club in Paxcroft, Hilperton. Its running track opened in November 2017 following fundraising and local support, and the club marked its fortieth anniversary in 2026 with a relay and summer celebration.
The weekly programme includes led group runs, coached intervals, trail running and Couch to 5K courses. Avon Valley Triathletes is a section of the same club, adding swimming, cycling and multisport activities. Members also have opportunities to mentor one another through Goal Getters, while volunteers organise events including Over the Hills, the Wiltshire Half Marathon, Westbury 5K Series and Avon Valley Relay.
New runners may try three sessions before joining online. Young people aged 11–16 attend the separate youth sessions rather than the adult programme. Training is spread across several venues, especially for swimming and multisport, so check the session listing before attending. The membership team can help choose a suitable starting group and explain the available membership options.
