Lagan Valley Athletics Club was formed in 1989 by John Glover and a small group of mainly female athletes. Its inaugural meeting took place at the Dub Pavilion that August. Early success came through athletes including Karen Mills, Jane Hale and Vicky Jamison, while Judith Rodgers became the club’s first Commonwealth Games representative.
Based at Mary Peters Track in Belfast, the club expanded into a programme for different ages, abilities and disciplines. Its young-athlete meetings began in 1991, and junior development remains an important part of club life. Cross-country, mountain running and other endurance events feature alongside track and field, with the official contact form directing training and membership enquiries.
