About Carraig-Na-Bhfear A.C.
Carraig na bhFear Athletic Club was established at a community-centre meeting on 5 September 1980, renewing an earlier athletics tradition in this part of County Cork. Its juvenile section drew families from Carrignavar and neighbouring communities, and members took part in track and field, road racing and cross-country. Local farmers have played a particularly important role by making land available for races.
Cross-country hosting is a distinctive part of the club's history: national championships came to the area in 1991, 1999 and 2006. Training uses Coláiste an Chroí Naofa in Carrignavar, with additional track sessions listed at MTU in Bishopstown. Prospective members can contact the secretary or use the Athletics Ireland club-registration page. The published club timetable is labelled spring 2025, so confirm the current day and group before travelling.
