About Blarney/Inniscara A.C.
Blarney/Inniscarra Athletic Club serves Blarney, Inniscarra and the surrounding area of County Cork, Ireland. A history written by Mary Meagher traces its background to earlier athletics in Blarney and explains that the Blarney/Inniscarra name was adopted in 1976 as more young athletes came from Inniscarra parish. That name change should not be confused with the beginning of organised athletics in the area.
The same historical account describes a club active in both track and field, with juvenile and senior athletes. It highlights Valerie Vaughan, the 1992 national senior 1,500m champion, among its accomplished runners. Her association is recorded here as part of the club’s history.
Cork Athletics currently lists Wednesday and Friday training at the MTU track in Bishopstown. Prospective members should contact the club about suitable groups and confirm times before travelling. The county directory’s Blarney contact address is a correspondence address; it is separate from the published track-training venue.
