About Bandon A.C.
Bandon Athletic Club entered a new chapter on 11 April 2026 when its athletics facility at Clancoolbeg in Bandon, County Cork, was officially opened. Planning permission for the eight-acre site had been granted in 2021, followed by a project supported by public grants and local fundraising. Olympian Phil Healy cut the ribbon, with fellow Olympian and former Bandon athlete Nicola Tuthill also attending.
The six-lane track gives the West Cork club its own training and competition base. Its community programme includes the annual Bandon road race, the Catherine Duggan Open Sports and summer athletics camps for children. Athletics Ireland’s opening report described a proposed indoor facility as a future ambition, not a completed building. Use the club’s published enquiry email to confirm joining and session arrangements at the new venue.
