Ballymore Cobh A.C.

About Ballymore Cobh A.C.

Ballymore Cobh AC was formed in November 1967 when two local clubs united at a meeting in Cobh's Commodore Hotel. Based in County Cork, Ireland, it developed across track and field and cross-country. A club history by Phyllis Kidney, preserved by Cork Athletics, records the work of its coaches and volunteers and the opening of a new clubhouse in September 1992.

Sonia O'Sullivan first encountered the club through a juvenile social event and was coached by Pat O'Halloran and later Sean Kennedy. She returned to open the 1992 clubhouse. This is an early-career association: the historical account does not establish her present membership. The same archive records the club's longstanding emphasis on juvenile athletics.

Today's county directory separates adult sessions at Cobh Community College track from younger athletes' sessions at Coláiste Muire's astro facility. The Bees group covers ages seven to eleven, with an older juvenile group for ages twelve to seventeen. New members are welcomed throughout the year; check the relevant club social page or enquiry email for current times and group availability.
