Ballyfin A.C.

About Ballyfin A.C.

Ballyfin Athletic Club was founded at a meeting in the local Band Hall on 4 February 1959. First registered as St Fintan's AC, it later adopted the Ballyfin name. The club serves Ballyfin and the wider Portlaoise area of County Laois, Ireland. Its archive records a first Laois senior cross-country team victory in 1974 and the development of Ann Keenan, who represented Ireland at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. That is a historical association, not a statement about current membership.

The present club welcomes recreational runners and competitors, with senior and juvenile groups. Published training locations include Emo Court, St Fintan's car park on Dublin Road in Portlaoise and the Portlaoise College track for children. These serve different groups and should not be combined into a single address. New members can contact the membership representative, while separate public contacts cover women's and junior training. The club asks families to follow current notices for seasonal venue changes before attending.
