About Ardee and District A.C.
Ardee and District Athletic Club’s present chapter began in 1992, initially under the revived Ferdia name before becoming Ardee and District in 2000. Athletics in the County Louth town reaches further back: Ferdia AC operated in the 1950s and early 1960s, followed by Ardee De La Salle AC from 1971 to 1986. The parish training field and generations of local volunteers connect those different eras.
Today juveniles learn running, jumping and throwing, while adults train for cross-country, road races and longer distances. The Seamie Weldon Memorial 5K began in 2015, with a 10K added in 2022, honouring a club athlete, coach and committee member. New members should contact the secretary before attending: venues change with the season, and the club has announced temporary winter arrangements for October 2026.
