About Andover AC
Andover Athletic Club's story includes a 1950s club and a revival in the 1964–65 season after a short closure. Coaches built the renewed club around young athletes before it moved to Charlton in 1983. Early sessions there relied on a portable generator, well before the finished track and pavilion. The club's historical athletes include high jumper Rosalind Few, selected for the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Today the Hampshire club offers running, jumps and throws to junior and senior members, with younger athletes learning several events before specialising. The clubhouse is at Charlton Sports and Leisure Centre, West Portway, Andover—not the Winchester correspondence address in the directory. Group times depend on the coach, so new athletes should contact the club before their first visit. Associate membership also gives supporters and non-competing family members a way to take part in club life.
