About Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers RC
Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers Running Club began in 1988 after Steve Jordan put up a notice at Flitwick Leisure Centre inviting local runners to form a group. The club serves the neighbouring Bedfordshire towns of Ampthill and Flitwick, England, with road and cross-country running at the heart of its activities.
Its history includes organising the Flitwick 10K, Ampthill Trophy and Marston 5K, alongside anniversary challenges and social weekends. Those events and shared trips helped the Flyers grow beyond a weekly training group. Steve Jordan is remembered in the club’s account as the person who set the original invitation in motion.
Tuesday coached sessions use different local venues, including Flitwick Leisure Centre and Redborne School in Ampthill. New runners should email the membership team to arrange a trial and confirm the appropriate group. The joining page makes an important distinction for families: under-eighteens can hold family membership but cannot attend coached sessions under the published arrangement. Membership availability should therefore not be read as an offer of junior coaching.
