About Amber Valley and Erewash Athletic Club
Amber Valley & Erewash Athletic Club grew out of children's fun athletics events organised by Amber Valley Borough Council. Parents formed the club in 1999, initially training in Loscoe. It moved to Rutland Sports Park in Ilkeston in January 2006 and adopted its present name in 2011 to reflect its work across both Derbyshire districts. The club in England offers track and field, road running, cross-country and sportshall athletics from age eight through to adults.
Younger athletes learn running, jumping and throwing before moving towards more specialised coaching. Newcomer inductions take place at Wednesday or Saturday sessions; the club asks athletes to discuss invitation-only event groups with a coach. The Ilkeston track is the main base, with winter activities also using the tennis centre. Its community fundraising has helped provide a competition kit borrow-box and hardship support. The shared enquiry email or contact form is the starting point for arranging a first visit.
