About Ackworth Road Runners
Ackworth Road Runners was founded in 1985 and celebrated forty years in 2025. Based at Ackworth Cricket Club in West Yorkshire, England, it brings together runners interested in roads, trails, cross-country and longer-distance challenges. Local parkruns and club outings are part of its wider running community.
Adult training and a separate junior section give the club a broad range of activities. The junior programme covers ages four to fourteen: younger children develop running, jumping and throwing skills, while older groups progress towards more structured athletics. Junior sessions have their own charges and seasonal arrangements.
At the October 2026 review, junior membership was full and the club was operating a waiting list. Families should use the junior enquiry contact before attending, while adults can consult the main membership information for their own joining route. The cricket club on Wakefield Road is the club base; junior and other specialist sessions may meet elsewhere, so the published weekly schedule matters.
