About Achilles Club
Founded in 1920, the Achilles Club keeps Oxford and Cambridge athletes connected after university. Membership is by invitation to athletes who compete in matches between the two universities; election is for life.
The club helps stage the annual Varsity Match and supports university athletics through the Achilles Trust. Its programme also includes domestic meetings, overseas tours, schools' relays and the long-running transatlantic series with Harvard and Yale. It is an athletics club with university roots, rather than an open local running group.
