About Abingdon AC

Abingdon Athletics Club began in 1982 as Abingdon Amblers, when a group of running friends formed a club in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England. A young athletes section followed in 1995. The later change of name reflected an expanding range of athletics activities, while the club retained its social running roots.

Tilsley Park is the athletics base. Tuesday road runs offer a choice of distances and pace groups, while coached track sessions serve different events and goals. Cross-country and club championships provide opportunities to race together. Beginner runners can look out for the club’s separately organised Couch to 5K courses.

One longstanding social fixture is Chip Tuesday: members meet after their run, with countryside and riverside outings featuring in summer. Adults and young athletes have separate joining arrangements, and use of the track carries a facility charge in addition to club membership.
