From Kyoto to the Japanese Championships
Mahiro Hasegawa is a Japanese middle-distance runner from Kyoto. A primary-school track meet first drew her to the sport. She studied at Kyoto University of Education before joining Iwatani Corporation in 2026. In her first season with the team she made both the 800m and 1500m finals at the Japanese Championships in Nagoya, racing four times in three days.
The anchor leg in Hiratsuka
Her quickest 800m came in Fukagawa in July, where she ran 2:04.21. In September she backed up fifth place in the corporate 1500m final in Kyoto with third in the 800m the next day. Nine days later she won the NAGASE Cup 1500m in Tokyo in 4:13.74, improving on her 4:13.92 from May. Hasegawa anchored Iwatani to an Asian 4×1500m record at Hiratsuka on 1 November, bringing the baton home in a team time of 17:20.12.
