Shane Thrower
Biography
Shane Thrower is an endurance participant and youth supporter. Following a serious cycling collision in 2003, he returned to endurance sport through rehabilitation. He is part of the Te Tahi Youth team preparing for the New York City Marathon.
His documented ultra-running history includes repeated Old Ghost Ultra and Kepler Challenge finishes, Tarawera, Ultra-Trail Australia, the shortened 2016 Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji, the Alpine Challenge and the Grand to Grand stage race. In 2022 he finished second at the Krayzie 25 K’s. The results shown retain each source’s actual recorded course distance, including shortened courses.
The 2026 TCS New York City Marathon is scheduled for 1 November. An announced entry is not a completed race result.
His race history reaches well beyond the marathon, including 7:15:51 over the recorded 72.8 km Tarawera course in 2014.
