Biography
Mildred Baker is a Bronx runner who began running in 2023 through NYRR Striders, the organisation's programme for older adults. She finished second in her age group at the 2024 NYRR Frosty 5K and ran her first half marathon at the 2025 United Airlines NYC Half. At 80, she completed her first marathon in New York in 2026, showing the ambition and community spirit that can grow from a new start.
That first half marathon took 3:25:33; she has since completed Brooklyn in 3:15:59 and Staten Island in 3:09:13 in 2026, building experience race by race.
